Plan B when Crystal Cave tours are booked out
Decision guide when the 10 am–3 pm Crystal Cave sessions are full — the walk still exists, the gate is not a dare, and Ghost House is not the substitute.

Decision first: do not arrive at McNess at 11 am in school holidays and still expect a Crystal Cave seat. Typical public clock is about five guided sessions — 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm — [VERIFY] live. They fill. Being in the park is not a ticket. A Parks Pass is not a ticket.
Plan B that still counts: walk Caves Walk, take Boomerang Gorge views from signed points, do the koala boardwalk, picnic on an oval. That is a Yanchep day. Independent unofficial operator’s manual — National Parks Guide Australia.
Crystal Cave is the Perth-metro tourist cave: guided, about 45 minutes, formations and a stream-cave story, constant-ish ~18 °C. Stairs, low sections, uneven floor. The booking page notes a natural height restriction with the lowest point about 1.23 m — that line is on the booking product, not always the Explore Parks cave page. [VERIFY] live. What you were actually signing up for
Crystal Cave is a ticketed guided hour, not a wander you earn by parking. Official pages sell tickets at McNess or online. Typical public clock is about five tours a day — [VERIFY times]. If you do not hold a seat, you are not doing the cave today. That sentence is the whole article for some groups.
Official dollars on the Crystal Cave page (re-checked 26 Aug 2026): Adult $16 / Child $8 / Concession $12 / Family $40. The Aboriginal Cultural Experience is commonly advertised in the same band (public Sunday and public holidays 2 pm and 3 pm — [VERIFY]). Parks Passes cover neither. Vehicle entry is a fourth till for cars.

The decision at McNess
If the desk says full, you are choosing: surface limestone + koala + picnic, or leave. Success is not a selfie in a restricted cave. Do not loiter at the meeting point hoping a no-show appears. Do not send a child to “just look” past the gate.
Book next time online or at opening (McNess commonly 9.15 am–4.30 pm daily [VERIFY]). A 3 pm leftover slot plus a late Perth reverse is how groups hit dusk tired — name a hard leave-the-park time either way.
If someone cannot manage stairs or bending, skip underground even if tickets exist. Keep the surface walk. That still counts.
Plan B menu that still counts
Plan B one — Caves Walk (~4.5 km Class 3, about two hours from McNess) past the cave precinct with Boomerang Gorge views. Sandy and rocky. Not a thong walk. Dieback: stay on marked surfaces.
Plan B two — Dwerta Mia: ~2.1 km or a ~500 m Boomerang Gorge loop. Pick one on the sign. Family limestone taste without the full Class 3 circuit.
Plan B three — koala boardwalk (~240 m) plus Wetlands Walk (~2.7 km) around Loch McNess. Still Yanchep. Picnic on signed ovals — not Henry White sites.
Plan B four — Aboriginal Cultural Experience if that product is actually running and you can book it. Same advertised price band as the cave. Not a substitute you invent on a Tuesday.
What not to stack onto a missed tour
Ghost House 12.4 km is a different clock. Register Walk Safe, carry lunch, start as soon as McNess can register you. A booked-out cave does not create those logistics. If anyone in the car assumed ruins photos from a pull-over, they still do not get them.
Treetops Adventure is a commercial ropes product — separate operator, separate ticket, separate clock. Do not bolt it onto a sulk at the cave gate.
A booked-out cave is not a reason to invent a second national park. Stay on the Plan B menu above, or leave with a koala-and-picnic product that still counts as Yanchep.
Yonderup, Cabaret, and 400 caves
Cabaret Cave is a function venue. Exterior and context only unless you have an event booking. Caves Walk passing the limestone country does not open the door.
Yonderup Cave is listed on the official park page as a 60-minute guided tour. This unofficial site has no confirmed public fee table for Yonderup on the attraction-fees page (re-checked 26 Aug 2026). Confirm at McNess. Do not enter closed holes.
Visitor material notes more than four hundred caves recorded in the park. That is geology colour, not a licence to scramble. Unguided caving is not the plan.
What this site will never do
Sell cave tickets. Tell you to skip the guide. Invent Yonderup as a walk-up adventure. Treat a booked-out session as a closure of the park.

Can we go in without a tour if we walk past the entrance?
No. Crystal Cave is a guided, ticketed product. Stay out of closed holes. Caves Walk is the surface product.
Does a Parks Pass cover the cave?

Is Cabaret Cave a free substitute?
No. Cabaret Cave is a function venue. Exterior / context only unless you have an event booking. Photograph the entrance if signed as OK.
What about Yonderup Cave?
Listed on the official park page as a 60-minute guided tour. No dollar on the attraction-fees table when we checked 26 Aug 2026. Confirm at McNess. Not included in a Crystal Cave ticket and not a self-guide.
Should we start Ghost House instead?
Only if you packed a five-hour Class 3 day with Walk Safe, lunch and water. A booked-out 45-minute tour is not a reason to invent 12.4 km of sand.
Is there a height restriction?
The booking page notes a lowest point around 1.23 m needing bending and fitness. [VERIFY] live. Not a pram product. If someone is claustrophobic, say so at McNess before you pay.
