Don’t treat Henry White Oval as a day carpark
Decision guide when the picnic ovals look full and the campground looks empty — those sites are booked Park Stay camping, not overflow parking.

Best for: Day visitors tempted by vacant-looking grass at Henry White
Unofficial guide — always verify track conditions, closures, fees and safety with Explore Parks WA / DBCA. Place photos are Wikimedia Commons / CC where credited — not official Explore Parks WA imagery and not live conditions.
Some stay, tour and gear links may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Park fees, Parks Passes, Crystal Cave tickets and official Park Stay bookings are never affiliated.

Decision first: if you did not book Henry White, you do not park on it. Vacant grass is often a site someone paid for, or a gap you are not entitled to fill with a day-trip SUV.
Plan B that still counts: precinct car parks, picnic ovals, or leave. Independent unofficial. We never sell Park Stay and never affiliate the booking.
Yanchep has official camping. That is park-true and it is this oval: twelve grass sites and nine hardstand/tarmac, unpowered, max 7 nights commonly, Park Stay only. Specific sites often chosen on arrival in a booked area [VERIFY] live map.
The picnic ovals near McNess are the day-visitor product. Koala boardwalk, cave tours and short walks do not entitle you to a closer pad on someone else’s booking.
The decision at the oval edge
If the precinct is full, you wait, circle once, or leave. You do not invent a day pad on the campground. Success is not a closer walk to the koalas from someone else’s site.
Coach and weekend peaks fill koala-proximate bays. That is a reason to arrive earlier next time, not a reason to use booked grass.
Drive slowly. Kangaroos use the oval at the edges of the day. No feeding. No dogs.
What booked campers actually paid for
Planning figures from the Explore Parks additional-facilities camping band (showers): Adult $20 / Concession $15 / Child 6–15 $5 per person per night plus vehicle entry (camping-fees page last updated 24 Jun 2026, re-checked 26 Aug 2026). Children 5 and under: typically no camping fee on the statewide table [VERIFY]. [VERIFY] Park Stay checkout — that till is the authority.
Unpowered. Twelve grass + nine hardstand. Max 7 nights commonly. One campsite per booking. Specific sites often chosen on arrival in a booked area. Drinking water is not guaranteed — pack as if the tap is a bonus. Showers are not a reason to skip carrying drinking water.
Your day-trip does not get those facilities by proximity. Passes cover entry, not camping. Cave, cultural tour and golf remain extra attraction fees.
Inn vs oval vs town

Yanchep Inn is heritage commercial accommodation inside the park, separate operator, separate till. Use it if you wanted sheets. Do not email this unofficial site for Inn bookings. We do not publish a contact email.
Town beds: Yanchep, Two Rocks, Joondalup / Wanneroo corridor, wider Perth — Booking searches on the stay hub, never for Park Stay.
Trail shelters (Shapcott’s and others on Coastal Plain) are for the extended-walk system, not a substitute Henry White booking and not a day-visitor picnic destination. Ghost House walkers do not camp at the ruins.
What this site will never do
Sell Park Stay. Affiliate camping fees. Treat vacant-looking grass as overflow parking advice.
Always verify on parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au, the campground page and alerts. Independent unofficial. Not walked for this date.
FAQ
Tap a question to expand the answer.
Can we picnic on a vacant campsite?
No. Use picnic ovals. Campsites are for booked campers.
Can we use the showers as day visitors?
Plan showers as a booked-camper facility. Day visitors use precinct toilets. Do not occupy a site to “borrow” a shower.
Is the Inn the campground?
No. Inn = commercial lodging. Henry White = Park Stay camping. Town beds exist in Yanchep and Two Rocks.
Can we camp without booking if we arrive late?
Treat bookings as essential. Peak fills. This site does not hold overflow. Trail shelters (Shapcott’s) are not a substitute Henry White night unless you are on the official extended-walk system.
How much is camping?
Showers mean the additional-facilities band (camping-fees page last updated 24 Jun 2026, re-checked 26 Aug 2026): adult $20 / concession $15 / child 6–15 $5 per person per night plus vehicle entry. [VERIFY] Park Stay checkout. Passes cover entry, not camping.
Are sites powered?
Unpowered is the advertised product. Generators, if allowed, are typically restricted to hardstand sites and set hours — [VERIFY] live campground rules.
