Overnight at Henry White Oval
Guide updated · verify Explore Parks WA / DBCA the morning you go
Book Henry White on parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au only. Unpowered grass and hardstand. Camping fee per person per night plus vehicle entry. Drinking water not guaranteed. Yanchep Inn is a different commercial bed. Day visitors do not use this oval as a carpark.

Yanchep has official camping. That is Henry White Oval: twelve grass sites on the former oval and nine hardstand/tarmac sites suitable for campervans and trailers, unpowered, maximum stay commonly 7 nights, Park Stay only. Specific sites often cannot be reserved in advance — choose an area when booking, then a vacant site in that area on arrival [VERIFY] live Park Stay map. One campsite per booking.
Showers mean the additional-facilities camping band (Explore Parks camping-fees page last updated 24 Jun 2026, re-checked 26 Aug 2026): adult $20 / concession $15 / child 6–15 $5 per person per night PLUS vehicle entry on the Around Perth scale ($17 standard vehicle planning figure). Children 5 and under: typically no camping fee on the statewide table [VERIFY]. Passes cover entry, not camping. [VERIFY] the live dollar on Park Stay checkout — that till is the authority.
This unofficial site never affiliates Park Stay and never sells the fee. Yanchep Inn is heritage commercial lodging inside the park — separate operator, separate till. Trail shelters on Coastal Plain are not a substitute booking.
Use the night so morning Walk Safe / koala rails happen before weekend crush. Check emergency.wa.gov.au for fire rules. Day-trippers who park on a booked site are the failure mode — picnic ovals near McNess are the day-visitor product. Not walked for this date.
Track status, weather, fees and closures change — verify on Explore Parks WA / DBCA before you leave, then use the timeline below as a planning skeleton only. Henry White Oval is official Park Stay camping — never affiliated here. Yanchep Inn is commercial lodging.

Timeline
Before you drive (up to 180 days ahead)
Hold a Park Stay booking
Book parkstay.dbca.wa.gov.au only — up to 180 days ahead is commonly advertised [VERIFY]. Do not rock up to a full oval on a school-holiday Friday. Pack drinking water as if taps are a bonus. Generator hours, if allowed, are typically hardstand-only and time-boxed (visitor notes often 8–10 am and 4–6 pm) — [VERIFY]. Quiet hours are the neighbour test. Screenshot the booking, campground map, fire rules and alerts on home Wi-Fi.
Arrival afternoon
Campground, then precinct as a day visitor
Sealed 2WD inside the park. Pick a vacant site in your booked area. Do not occupy someone else’s grass. Then koala / short walk / booked cave using visitor-precinct parking — you are a camper, not a second car on a neighbour’s pad. McNess is still the information floor for Walk Safe and cave tickets (commonly 9.15 am–4.30 pm). Chocolate Drops hours are not guaranteed — pack dinner as if the kiosk is shut.
Evening
Ovals, kangaroos, fire rules
Communal fire pit only when season and bans allow. Usual permitted season in official campground notes: April–October — still check emergency.wa.gov.au and total fire bans. Chopped wood may be provided; collecting or bringing your own is often prohibited — [VERIFY]. Kangaroos on the oval at the edges of the day: space, no food, slow driving after dark. Dogs are not permitted. Statewide H5 banner is not a campground closure — keep distance from sick wildlife.
Next morning
Walk Safe or koala hour
Ghost House from an on-site night is the sane full-day shape — you are already here when McNess opens. Or koala boardwalk at opening before the rails fill. Do not add a late cave after the 12.4 km loop. Woodlands / Wetlands if anyone is not a five-hour walker. Leave the site as you found it.
Checkout
Max 7 nights is the cap
Dump point as signed. Do not bargain the stay length on this page. If you wanted sheets, that was the Inn. If you wanted town beds, Yanchep / Two Rocks / Joondalup still exist for next time. Competence is not parking on someone else’s grass on the way out.

Parking & access tips
- Booked campers: vehicles on the site per Park Stay rules — one campsite per booking.
- Day visitors: precinct bays and picnic ovals — never this campground.
- Hardstand vs grass: match what you booked.
- Do not use a paid site as overflow parking for relatives at McNess.
- Sealed 2WD — no ferry, no mandatory 4WD.
Skip if short on time / energy
- Treating vacant-looking sites as picnic overflow
- Assuming drinking water because there are showers
- Dogs (not permitted in the park, including the campground)
- Trail shelters or the Inn as a substitute Park Stay booking
- Walk-up Friday in the school holidays
- Powered-site expectations — unpowered is the advertised product
Extra tips
Who this plan is for
- People who already hold a Park Stay booking
- Fit walkers who want Walk Safe at opening without a CBD alarm
- Families who will camp unpowered and pack drinking water
- Not day visitors looking for overflow parking
Fee systems (keep tills separate)
- Camping (additional-facilities $20 / $15 / $5 planning figures) ≠ vehicle entry ≠ cave ticket ≠ golf
- Parks Passes cover entry, not camping
- We never sell Park Stay. [VERIFY] checkout dollars live
Inn vs oval vs town
- Sheets: Yanchep Inn (commercial operator inside the park)
- Tent / camper: Henry White (Park Stay only)
- Town: Yanchep, Two Rocks, Joondalup / Wanneroo, wider Perth — Booking searches on the stay hub, never for Park Stay
Decision gates
- No booking: do not rock up — switch to town beds and a dawn McNess start
- Fire ban: no communal fire, even in season
- Generator outside listed hours/zones: do not
- Wanted Ghost House plus a 3 pm cave: pick one
What success looks like
- You slept on the site you paid for — nobody else did
- Morning koala or Walk Safe without a Perth reverse first
- Water packed, fire rules followed, site left clean

- Koala boardwalkShort boardwalk to a small managed koala colony in the visitor precinct. Weekend and school-holiday queues are the failure mode. Daily talks have been suspended at times — [VERIFY] animals and talks on the day. Do not treat this as wild bush koala tracking.
- Woodlands Walk TrailTuart and banksia woodland loop from the developed park. Spring colour is garnish. Stay on track (dieback). A complete short walk if Ghost House is too much.
- Ghost House Walk TrailThe signature long day: yellow markers from McNess / Loch McNess wetlands through tuart and banksia to the Ghost House limestone ruins and back. Register Walk Safe. Carry lunch and water. Not a Class 1 family stroll.
