Why this is the overnight product
Yanchep has official camping. That is park-true and it is Henry White Oval. Book Park Stay WA only — up to 180 days ahead is commonly advertised [VERIFY]. This unofficial site never affiliates the booking and never sells the fee. Peak weekends and school holidays fill.
It is unpowered. Official campground notes: twelve grass campsites on the former oval and nine hardstand/tarmac sites suitable for campervans and trailers. Specific sites cannot be reserved in advance — choose an area when booking, then a vacant site in that area on arrival [VERIFY] live Park Stay map. Maximum stay commonly 7 nights. One campsite per booking.
Day-trippers who park on a booked site are the failure mode. Vacant-looking grass is often a site someone paid for. Article: don’t treat Henry White as a day carpark. Picnic ovals near McNess are the day-visitor product.
Camping dollars vs entry dollars
Henry White has toilets and hot showers, so use the Explore Parks additional-facilities camping band — not the cheaper “basic facilities / no showers” table. Camping-fees page last updated 24 Jun 2026, re-checked 26 Aug 2026: adult $20 / concession $15 / child (6–15) $5 per person per night. Children 5 and under: typically no camping fee on the statewide table [VERIFY]. Plus vehicle entry on the Around Perth scale ($17 standard vehicle planning figure). [VERIFY] the live dollar on Park Stay checkout — that till is the authority.
Camping fee is paid by card when booking. Vehicle entry may be paid when booking, on arrival, or by a Parks Pass. Trailers including camper trailers and caravans: official campground notes say vehicle entry is required for motor vehicles only — [VERIFY] live wording. Passes cover entry, not camping. Cave, cultural tour and golf remain extra attraction fees.
A fee may apply if you cancel or change dates; stricter conditions in peak periods. No booking fee in the official campground notes we checked. Read Park Stay terms. This site does not hold sites.
What “unpowered but real” means
Toilets, hot showers, camp kitchen / gas BBQ, picnic tables, communal fire pit when season and bans allow, dump point — commonly listed. Each site has a picnic table and benches in official notes. Chopped wood may be provided when fires are permitted; collecting or bringing your own is often prohibited — [VERIFY] current campground rules.
Campfires when conditions permit and in the provided communal rings only. Usual permitted season: April–October in official campground notes — still check emergency.wa.gov.au and total fire bans. Generators: restricted zones and hours only (hardstand / former carpark sites; typical visitor notes 8–10 am and 4–6 pm) — [VERIFY]. Quiet hours are the neighbour test.
Drinking water is not guaranteed. Treat if available. Pack as if the tap is a bonus. Showers are not a reason to skip carrying drinking water. Kangaroos on the oval at the edges of the day: space, no food, slow driving after dark.
Yanchep Inn is a different bed
Heritage-listed inn (built 1936 in public histories) is commercial accommodation inside the park, separate operator. Use it if you wanted sheets. Do not email this unofficial site for Inn bookings. We do not publish a contact email. Town beds: Yanchep, Two Rocks, Joondalup / Wanneroo corridor, wider Perth — Booking searches on the stay hub, never for Park Stay.
Trail shelters (Shapcott’s and others on Coastal Plain) are for the extended-walk system, not a substitute Henry White booking and not a day-visitor picnic destination. Ghost House walkers do not camp at the ruins.
Chocolate Drops is a commercial kiosk, not a campground facility. Hours are not guaranteed to match McNess. Pack dinner as if the kiosk is shut.
How an overnight day actually runs
Arrive with a booking, pick a vacant site in your booked area, then use the park as a day visitor: koala boardwalk, short walks, booked cave. Ghost House from a Henry White night is the sane full-day shape — you are already on site for Walk Safe when McNess opens. Do not add a late cave after the 12.4 km loop.
Itinerary: overnight-henry-white. Reverse clock is easier when you are not driving back to Joondalup in the dark after Ghost House. Last town fuel/food still matters on the way in: Yanchep / Two Rocks; Joondalup for the supermarket/hospital corridor.
Statewide H5 bird-flu banner (26 Aug 2026 snapshot) is not a campground closure. Keep distance from sick wildlife. Dogs are not permitted. Assistance animals: official DBCA wording only.
Access, 2WD, what you do not need
Sealed 2WD inside the park. No ferry, no mandatory 4WD, no tides. Book before you arrive. Do not treat vacant-looking sites as a day car park while you visit McNess.
McNess House is still the information floor: Walk Safe, cave tickets, maps. Hours commonly 9:15 am–4:30 pm. The campground does not replace that window.
Not walked. Confirm site map, generator rules, fire season and water on Park Stay and the campground page the week you travel.
Who should not book Henry White
Skip if you wanted powered sites, guaranteed drinking water, or a walk-up Friday in the school holidays. Skip if you are a day visitor — use picnic ovals. Skip if you thought the Inn and the campground were the same till.
Plan B that still counts: town beds in Yanchep / Two Rocks / Joondalup, and a dawn McNess start. Competence is not parking on someone else’s grass.
If you hold a booking, treat the oval as your site only — not extra parking for relatives at McNess. One campsite per booking in official notes. [VERIFY] live Park Stay rules.
What not to stack onto this precinct
Do not treat Henry White as a picnic overflow when McNess ovals look full. Do not assume Inn bookings or trail shelters replace a Park Stay site.
- Rocking up without a booking on a school-holiday Friday.
- Day-trip SUV on a paid campsite.
- No drinking water packed because “there are showers.”
- Collecting firewood. Running a generator outside listed hours/zones.

FAQ — Henry White
Tap a question to expand the answer.
Can I rock up without a booking?
Treat bookings as essential. Park Stay WA is the channel. Peak weekends and school holidays fill. This site does not hold sites.
Is the Inn the campground?
No. Henry White is Park Stay camping. Yanchep Inn is commercial lodging inside the park. Different till, different rules.
Can day visitors use the showers?
Plan as a booked-camper facility. Day visitors use precinct toilets and picnic ovals. Do not occupy campsites to borrow a shower.
Dogs?
No. Dogs are not permitted in the park, including the campground, unless official assistance-animal rules say otherwise.
How much is camping?
Showers mean the additional-facilities band (camping-fees page last updated 24 Jun 2026, re-checked 26 Aug 2026): adult $20 / concession $15 / child 6–15 $5 per person per night plus vehicle entry. [VERIFY] Park Stay checkout. Passes cover entry, not camping.
Are sites powered?
Unpowered is the advertised product. Generators, if allowed, are typically restricted to hardstand sites and set hours — [VERIFY] live campground rules.
Other park areas
Pick one extra precinct, not all of them. Ghost House replaces the extra — it does not sit on top of a cave plus picnic.
McNess House & visitor precinct
2–4 hours for a koala + picnic + short walk; longer if you add a cave tour
The working front door: park entry, McNess House Visitor Centre, koala boardwalk, picnic ovals, Chocolate Drops, golf meeting, and the start of most short walks — about 45–60 minutes north of Perth CBD on sealed 2WD roads.
Skip if: You expected dogs, a walk-up show cave, or to treat Henry White grass as overflow parking. Ghost House is not a lap of this oval.
Loch McNess wetlands
45–90 minutes for Wetlands Walk
Paperbark wetlands around Loch McNess — yanget, waterbirds, the easy Wetlands Walk, and the first kilometres of Ghost House if you keep following the wrong markers.
Skip if: You wanted a beach swim, a boat launch, or a five-hour ruins walk by accident.
Crystal Cave & limestone country
~45 minutes underground plus waiting; add ~2 hours if you walk Caves Walk
Perth metro tourist cave (guided, ticketed) plus Caves Walk, Boomerang Gorge / Dwerta Mia, and Cabaret Cave as an exterior / functions venue only.
Skip if: Anyone cannot manage stairs, bending to about 1.23 m, or a 45-minute guided underground walk. Walk-up without a ticket is not the plan.
Ghost House ruins & woodlands
Woodlands ~1 hour; Ghost House most of a day; Coastal Plain 3 days
Tuart and banksia woodland, limestone outcrops, the Ghost House ruins on the 12.4 km loop, and the longer Coastal Plain / Rose / Cockatoo country beyond the picnic ovals.
Skip if: Anyone is not a five-hour Class 3 walker, you cannot register Walk Safe before McNess closes, or you also promised a 3 pm cave.
