Coastal Plain Walk Trail

Area: Ghost House ruins & woodlands

Long one-way coastal-plain walk with overnight shelters (not Henry White Oval). Car shuffle required. Register / seek official advice. Water tanks variable. This is not the family picnic park.

Do not pair: Do not add Crystal Cave and koala queues to day one of a 52 km walk.

Turnaround: Turn around early. Do not push to a dry tank “because the PDF said water”.

  • No car shuffle
  • Treating shelters as powered caravan sites
  • January start at midday
  • Class 4 multi-day — experienced walkers, self-sufficient
  • About 3 days
  • About 52 km one-way [VERIFY] — Yanchep (McNess) toward Neaves Road / Melaleuca Conservation Park
  • Effort: hard
  • Best for: Experienced walkers with a car shuffle — not a Perth afternoon

Distance, grade, time, vehicle rules, hours and open/closed status change — always verify with Explore Parks WA / DBCA (exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au) and alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au before you go.

Where you start

McNess House Visitor Centre (typical Yanchep end)

Three overnight campsites with shelters/bush toilets/variable water tanks on official material. These are not Park Stay Henry White bookings. [VERIFY] live trail notes.

How to get there

  1. Vehicle shuffle or support is part of the plan. Do not assume a bus at Neaves Road.
  2. Talk to the park / follow official extended-walks advice. Walk Safe at McNess.

How to do it (step by step)

  1. Plan days, water, and a bail-out. Overlaps Ghost House / Rose / Cockatoo in places — read the map.
  2. Carry more water than pride. Treat tank water as unreliable.

Secondary depth — not the day-1 hero

Coastal Plain exists. It is not what most Perth visitors should book. Ghost House is the long day; Henry White is the car campground; this is the multi-day for people who already know what Class 4 means.

Extra tips

  • PLB/sat messenger is a sensible personal choice on multi-day remote sections — not a park requirement.
  • Henry White is a different product: bookable car campground.
