Woodlands Walk Trail
Area: Ghost House ruins & woodlands
Guide updated · verify live track status with Explore Parks WA / DBCA
Tuart and banksia woodland loop from the developed park. Spring colour is garnish. Stay on track (dieback). A complete short walk if Ghost House is too much.
Do not pair: Do not stack Woodlands + Caves + Ghost House because a list said “do all walks”.
Turnaround: Return to McNess on the signed loop.
- Leaving the track for orchid photos
- Short woodland loop [VERIFY]
- About 45–75 minutes
- About 2.6 km [VERIFY]
- Effort: easy
- Best for: Shade-seeking first-timers, spring wildflowers without a 12 km commitment
Distance, grade, time, vehicle rules, hours and open/closed status change — always verify with Explore Parks WA / DBCA (exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au) and alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au before you go.

Where you start
McNess House Visitor Centre precinct
Signed Woodlands Walk — do not confuse with Ghost House yellow for the long loop.
How to get there
- Same 2WD visitor precinct.
How to do it (step by step)
- Walk the signed loop. Wildflowers Aug–Oct typically — stay on the path.
The short woodland, not the ruins day
Woodlands Walk is the 2.6 km tuart/banksia loop. Ghost House is the 12.4 km day. Mixing the names is how people under-pack water.

Extra tips
- Good Plan B when cave tours are booked out.

Often paired with Dwerta Mia— only if energy and weather allow.
